The News: Zaid Hamid exposed as enemy of Pakistan and democracy. November 23,2013

His former aide reveals his ex-boss tried to create dissent within army, plotted to kill CJP, PM Nawaz, Gen Kayani, ex-president Zardari, Asma Jahangir, Najam Sethi, Hamid Mir, Khushnood; alleges Zaid fanned sectarianism, attempted to divide army, derail democracy; Zaid rejects charges.

KARACHI: A former close aide of conservative firebrand and self-proclaimed analyst, Zaid Hamid, alleged on Wednesday that his ex-boss attempted to create dissent among senior army officers and wanted to eliminate Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Army chief Gen Parvez Ashfaq Kayani, and others.

Emaad Khalid, who worked with Hamid at his think-tank BrassTacks, made a string of shocking allegations against his former employer, saying that he had prepared “a hit-list,” which included the names of Chief of the Army Staff Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Chaudhry. Also on the list were top journalists, including Hamid Mir, Najam Sethi, Khushnood Ali Khan human and Islamic scholar Maulana Tahir Ashrafi.

A petition has been submitted in the Supreme Court against Zaid Hamid for trying to instigate mutiny in the Pakistan armed forces and plot to assassinate the army chief, he said.

“I accompanied him [Zaid] at many meetings, and for a-year-and-a -half I also met several people to give and receive money on his behalf,” said Khalid while addressing a news conference at the Karachi Press Club.

Khalid said that in the numerous meetings he attended, Zaid Hamid sometimes hatched plans to kill former president Asif Ali Zardari and at others, Nawaz Sharif. “But mostly he planned to kill Gen Kayani. In a meeting with a military intelligence officer, Major Mansoor, he (Zaid) said: ‘Let us find a Mumtaz Qadri for Gen Kayani’.”

He added that Major Mansoor could be a fake name as was the case with many military intelligence officers. “But you can recognise him by his height which is five feet, six inches and a broken pinkie.”

Khalid went on to disclose that Hamid met then Inter-Services Public Relations DG Athar Abbas several times, but when he refused him entry to its headquarters, he began to call him a “joker” and attack his religious affiliations.

“This is how Zaid does things. Whenever anyone insults him, he calls him either a Jewish or a RAW agent or an Ahmadi.”

Similar incidents occurred when Admiral Noman Bashir began taking Zaid with a pinch of salt and the latter started claiming that the chief of naval staff was a member of the Ahmadi sect too. Emaad Khalid also alleged that Zaid Hamid always wanted the army to topple the elected government, but the army chief remained committed to the supremacy of the constitution and democracy.

In fact people like Zaid Hamid only thrive under dictatorships, said Khalid. He further alleged that his former boss had close links with the former military ruler Pervez Musharraf and acted as his adviser.

Zaid tried to instigate the officers of the armed forces against the civilian and military leaders by sending them emails, he added.

Khalid revealed that Zaid had held secret meetings at the UAE, German, Iranian, Turkish and Saudi embassies to sell off the country’s top secrets.

“He plotted several times to derail democracy in the country, but soon realised that the corps commanders were united under the leadership of General Kayani. Zaid can only survive during anarchy, and so he wants to end democracy. Who is he to decide if democracy works for Pakistan or not?” Emmad asked.

Khalid also held Zaid responsible for spreading sectarian violence in the country. “He [Zaid] often said: ‘How hard is it to kill a person in Karachi? You only have to pay Rs70,000 …’.”

Khalid also told reporters that Zaid, a self-proclaimed guardian of faith, was actually a follower of a false prophet Yousuf Kazzab, a man sentenced to death by a lower court for claiming false prophet-hood.

He added that after the air crash that killed Gen Ziaul Haq and the top military leadership, Zaid met former ISI chief General Hamid Gul.

“Yousuf Kazzab accompanied him and Zaid introduced him as his pir.”

Khalid said TV host Mubashir Luqman had strong ties with Zaid mainly because they shared the same ideology and both were ready to “sell out.”

Khalid said he had documents to prove everything he had claimed. “I have also shared my findings with the top military establishment and their investigation has almost completed.”

He said he had attended a meeting which lasted six hours at a house in Chaklala Scheme 3, where senior military officer were present.

“I shared all my findings with them and on their request I worked for six months, collecting all the emails and evidence against him.”

Khalid said he had decided that it was time to speak out because Allah had opened his eyes making him realise that Zaid was not the pious man he thought he was. “In fact, he is harming the national interest for money.”

He said he was ready for him and Hamid to be tried in a court.“And if I am proven wrong, then you can shoot me at a public place and I will have no complaints.” Khalid was accompanied by his wife at the press conference. He said that during his time with Hamid, he and his wife worked as a duo. Zaid Hamid, on social media, described all allegations against him as a pack of lies.
